Sheinton - St Peter & St Paul Church

church viewStanding high on a natural mound overlooking the Severn valley, this mediaeval church was much restored and altered in the 19th century.

Sheinton is a small rural hamlet in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with 4 active farms and a mixture of working families and retired people.

The Church is always open for prayer, quiet contemplation and those just wishing to visit.

Many passers-by mention in our Visitor's Book how much they appreciate the welcome of an open church.

A Bible re-enactment

Services:  We currently hold 2 services per month.  On the second Sunday at 4pm, we have the successful and growing Kids Church service, run by local young people with Worship Leader support.  This regularly attracts 10-15 children and their parents.  The service includes lots of singing, prayer, acting out a Bible story, activities and crafts, all followed by plenty of tea and treats!

On the fourth Sunday we alternate Morning Worship with Eucharist services at 11am.  This is a more formal service attracting worshippers from nearby villages as well as Sheinton itself.

Celebratory services for Christmas, Easter, our Patronal festival (June) and Harvest (September) are always followed by tasty refreshments!

Achievements:

Over the past 15 years we have secured significant grant donations, which have enabled us to extensively repair and redecorate our beautiful Church.

These grants have been matched by the incredible effort and generosity of the village residents, friends, neighbours and relations.  We regularly hold a Village Fete, an annual Cross-country race, and many other diverse community fund-raising events.

A group of enthusiastic volunteers have investigated the archaeology and history of the Parish, and produced a fascinating book, which can be purchased from the Church (£5).

Vision:

It is the vision of the PCC of St Peter & St Paul to share the good news of God's love and to keep the Church as the beating heart of our whole community.

The PCC hopes to provide a welcoming and comfortable place of worship for all, and eventually an accessible community space.
